We are 100% ready to trade when the relevant state government laws can be 100% adhered to. If we were to currently operate legally we would not be trading in in adhere to legislated NSW State Government Legislation.

Our stallholders & customerโ€™s best interest is always at the heart of all we do. We want to outline how the decision to โ€˜not tradeโ€™ is based on the current laws & restrictions, so our customers understand this decision. We miss you and want to be back and seeing all of your smiling faces!

MAXIMUM NUMBERS LEGALLY ALLOWED AT
THE OLIVE TREE MARKET SITE IN CIVIC PARK

While the state government has communicated that markets are able to begin trading ‘with restrictions’ this is conditional on the ‘1 person per 4 metres square law.

This means that The Olive Tree Market would be legally allowed to only have a maximum capacity of 300 people within the market at any one time. This is calculated on our event site which is 1200 metres square- which has been calculated with NSW Government officers.

The following numbers illustrate a conservative estimation on how we would need to trade to be compliant:

Olive Tree Market Vendors & Olive Tree Market Staff Onsite
Stallholders: 110
Stallholder Employees: 15
Olive Tree Market Staff: 7
Musicians: 2

Total: 134 people

Customers Permitted Based on Above Numbers:
Maximum: 166 People at any one time.

1 person per 4 square metre rule, 2 people at stall at any one time
In addition, if there is one vendor operating a stall only 1 customer, at any time, would be allowed in a stall space. NSW Government 4 metre Square Rule

Usual Visitors Numbers:
Our minimum visitor numbers are 3000 people. Operating with the restricted legally allowed 300 people- & enforcing these numbers with our large customer base, isn’t realistic nor appropriate.

Fines for non-compliance

There is a potential $11,000 for individuals and up to $55,000 for Corporations for event non compliance. This impact our future ability to operate if any breach of numbers occurred.

My sincere hope is that we can give you positive news on operating very soon. Regulations change on a regular basis.

Thank-you for your ongoing support. The Olive Tree Market
