Here are a few sneak peaks of talented creatives that you can discover on the day!

Through Our Lens

Photographers Edgar and Norah of Through Our Lens are self professed ‘21st century Voyagers’ who always have a camera at arm-length distance. With very diverse backgrounds, their common passion for photography is a major foundation of their relationship.

Originally from Latvia, Edgar has always been determined to explore the world, whether that means booking a flight across the globe or walking barefoot around the neighbourhood. Edgar’s background in marketing & accounting, together with his passion for photography and video-making, have been enormous drivers behind the couples adventures of sharing experiences while creating amazing photography.

Norah’s background in design and architecture instilled in her the ethos that  “You either do something properly or don’t do it at all”. This attitude has been the source of amazing image editing and design that you can see in the couples work.

Aulieude

One of our most popular sustainable slow fashion labels Aulieude is returning to The Olive Tree Market! We thought we had lost maker Michelle to Melbourne, so we know our Newcastle audience will be excited!

Aulieude create alternatives for women who are conscious about the environmental impacts of their purchases. Michelle seeks to provide beautiful, contemporary pieces that seamlessly integrate with our Australian lifestyle.

Aulieude’s collections are made from sustainable linen fabric. Linen from flax requires far less water to produce than cotton, no chemical fertilizers, and it is one of the strongest plant fibers. The material takes to dyes well, producing minimal dye runoff.

Non only that but linen is cool and comfortable on the body, making it the perfect choice for spring and summer. Look effortlessly stylish while minimising harm to our planet this Spring.

Hands Head Heart
Makers Geordie & Zaya met in 2013 while travelling across the frozen tundra of Siberia competing in a charity motorcycle race. Since that chance meeting, they have not been apart- slightly romantic!

Together they are very passionate about exploring their creativity which led them to establish their first business, Hands Head Heart in 2015. The couple now manage their own ceramic studio in St Peters. Hands Head Heart’s handmade porcelain designs are thoughtfully constructed, with a fundamental focus on form and function for each unique piece.

Geordie and Zaya’s commitment to their work is obvious in every piece they make, as designing and creating is not just a job, but an expression of their passion and lives together. Hands Head Heart is cultivated from a couple’s love of learning and a desire to create. Their designs respect the past, while embracing contemporary approaches to creating, resulting in a balance of long lasting form, function & quality.

Foodie Focus- Mr Goaty Gelato
Spring is in the air! That means Mr Goaty Gelato will be back for the Spring date of The Olive Tree Market. Creator Dan Hughes all-natural, award-winning jersey cow, goat’s milk gelato, and vegan sorbet are to die for. Think flavours like classic Salted Caramel, alongside Mr Goaty Gelato’s amazing garden to gelato creations, like Honeycomb & Lavender or Strawberry & Finger Lime. YUM! Pick up a gelato, sit under the trees in Civic Park, and take in  live music all day long.

Foodie Focus-Urban Hum

What could be more perfect on a cold Saturday morning than a breakfast in bed and reading the papers. We love delicious local honey by Urban Hum and sourdough by Covered In Crumbs. This batch is Toasted wattle seed honey! Yum! Don’t forget to put the date of the upcoming Olive Tree Market in your diary-September 7th- and take home delicious honey from Urban Hum and goodies from other local producers.

Hello Fleur

It’s the season for beautiful fresh flowers, so we are happy to introduce you to two new kids on the block!
We will have two new floral artists at the upcoming The Olive Tree Market. Florist Camilla from Hello Fleur will feature gorgeous wild & whimsical florals perfect for welcoming the new season into your home. There will also be blooms and floral wreaths from Jasmine Oliver from  As Sweet As Jasmine

We look forward to releasing our music line-up in the coming days so make sure to check back in to The Olive Tree Market website and social media pages.

Music at The Olive Tree Market has always been an integral part of the community we have developed over the years. Many of our artists start when they are just entering the music scene and go on to achieve great things. We are so thankful by all the amazing musicians that come to play each month!

This month we have a stella line-up with familiar faces and some new sounds to be added to the mix. The Shadow Cast (pictured) is the brainchild of well loved Newcastle musicians Lachlan X Morris and Boots Porter. They play a mix of dad-rock, folk, their own originals and tunes you know and love. They will be on 1pm – 3pm on the Fountain Stage. We know you love Earthen Rhythms African Drumming so come down for some great energy from 11am-1pm. More music to be announced soon!
